Lumière Cinématographe
Description
Replica of the Lumière Cinématographe made for Beijing’s National Film Museum (China). It is fully functional, apart from the lens.
The Cinématographe was the first camera that could film and project a film on a big screen. It was invented by Auguste and Louis Lumière in 1895 in Lyon (France). This replica was built based on the measurements of an original device at the Institut Lumière, the Cinématographe No. 379.
The materials used in this replica are the same ones as those used in the original device (brass, solid wood, steel, leather, velvet…).
