Singing bird mechanism
Description
This device can mechanically imitate the singing of a nightingale. By simply turning the crank, the bellows fill up and start blowing air into the whistle.
The two melody and air cams make it possible to vary the note and to open the air supply at the right moment.
This device is made out of brass, steel and wood (ash, box and chestnut). It will be used for demonstrations at the Musée des Arts et Métiers’s automaton gallery (Paris).
